Favorite Styling Products for Damaged Hair

My hair and I don’t get along very well. For years I have been putting it through trauma, it all started when I was in the 7th grade and I started dumping peroxide on my natural brown locks. Apparently the orange look was in.  To date, there has been a few boxed dye incidents, bleaching, every day blow drying, and straightening.

My hair is a complete mess, but somehow I still get complements on it! After I blow-dry my hair, or even let it air dry, it looks awful. It’s dry, frizzy, lacks shine, and I swear some pieces feel like cotton. I’m on a quest for the perfect shampoo and conditioner to make it more manageable, but until that happens I’ve been relying on these styling products that fool people into believing I have nice hair. Thank you to the hair gods, keep doing what you’re doing, because I’m not going to stop bleaching my hair anytime soon. Here are my saviors:

styling products for damaged hair
1. Batiste Dry Shampoo, Light and Blonde – even though my hair is fried, by the end of the day my bangs become greasy. I skip washing twice in one day by spraying this on. It also covers up my dark roots between dye jobs.

2. Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner – Also known as detangler, this product is one of my hair care staples. It makes combing out wet hair much easier, and it smells great too.

3. Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Styling Treatment – A stylist recommended this treatment to me, and I couldn’t be happier with it! The oil works its way into the follicle instead of just coating it, leaving my locks much smoother. It doesn’t make it feel greasy either, like a lot of similar products do.

4.TIGI Bed Head Blow-Out Golden Illuminating Shine Cream – This is my go-to when I use a straightener. I love that you can apply it on dry hair. It makes my strands really glossy, and tames down frizz. Supposedly it makes your hair glow under black lights? This isn’t the 70’s, so I don’t own a black light, but I’ll let you know if my head glows the next time I’m up in da club.

5. Rock Your Hair Mega Volume Super Firm Hair Spray – A girl’s gotta have hairspray, and this one has a bedazzled bottle! What’s not to love. This stuff doesn’t have an overpowering scent and it keeps my curls intact. Have a look-see:

Look at those full curls! I can sleep in them and they’ll be there in the morning. :)
