I hit up the Chanel counter earlier this week at Saks to try some of their foundation. My skin has been crazy lately and I’m having a hard time finding the perfect liquid makeup. The sales associate applied Perfection Lumière Velvet to my blemished/dry skin, and since I wasn’t 100% sold on it, she gave me a sample so I could try it a few more times. I always feel bad not purchasing a product when they spend so much time with me so I splurged on some nail polish. I got a shade called Atmosphère from their Etats Poetiques Fall Collection. It’s a gorgeous sheer iridescent pearl polish that looks amazing as a top coat on other colors. I applied it over Essie’s Fashion Playground and the result was a beautiful seafoam with a pink hologram shine. These two shades create the perfect mermaid nail look! Madison would have totally rocked it! The downside is that my nails started chipping the second day after application. Maybe 4 coats of polishes is just too much? I didn’t use a base coat either. I’ve always found Essie polishes to be long-wearing, but I have had problems with Chanel in the past. Regardless, this has got to be one of my favorite polish combo colors ever!
Whoa! That’s a little too close to my face for comfort. I just wanted to show off my recent purchases from the Proenza Schouler x MAC collection, and my poor ability at putting on red lipstick. It’s been awhile since I’ve bought any limited edition products from MAC, mostly because nothing has “wowed” me, until I saw this collaboration. The gradient packaging is beautiful. I’m a total packaging junkie if anyone doesn’t already know. I really wanted the ombre blush from the collection, but settled with a nail polish and lipstick. Red lips and nude nails go fabulously together! I’m not totally in love with a nude nail, but I love how it appears to elongate the fingers. I know I’ll like the shade better once I get some sun on my pale skin. The lipstick is an matte orange-red, which I love. I really only try to save red lipsticks for special occasions. I can’t see myself wearing this one to work or anything. I have very full lips to begin with, and sometimes I think reds make them look over the top. I would use this shade to pull off the perfect pin-up look! I’m very happy with these products, I am looking forward to more fun limited edition collections from MAC in the future. Can’t they do a Heatherette #2?!
Ever since I spotted it on Plasticland, I’ve always been curious about TokyoMilk; an artsy fragrance line by Margot Elena. I am a cute packaging junkie, so I find myself being drawn to her designs.
I found this solid parfum with its sparkly cupcake box one day while checking out at Marshall’s, it was only $5, so naturally, I tossed it in my basket. The packaging design is definitely my favorite thing about it. It came with all these tiny art cards. I guess that’s what you’d call them? The fragrance itself smells like vanilla frosting and is a blend of Coconut Milk, Vanilla Absolute, Sandalwood, Basmati Rice. It’s very light and doesn’t seem to last long. I’m actually not usually one for solid fragrances, but this is small enough to keep in my handbag which is nice for touch ups on the go. I believe this product has been discontinued as it is not available on the website as a solid in this particular scent. I’m really looking forward to trying more from the line!
