French Macarons are the world’s prettiest cookie. I can’t believe a lot of people I’ve talk to still haven’t tried them! They’re so delicious with their light & airy texture. I’ve gotten them from a few different places, but Le Macaron in Sarasota, FL will about be my favorite. Besides their 18 different flavors of macarons, they also carry Norman Love chocolates and have a gelato bar. Out of all the macarons flavors, my favorites were lemon and raspberry. The cookie part has that delicate almond flavor, so the tartness is needed to sweeten them up! The next time I visit my 2nd home (Florida), Le Macaron will be high on my to-do list. In the meantime, I’ll deal with the ones from the local bakery here in town. Who knows, maybe I’ll build up the courage and attempt to make my own.
Spring St. Louis Fashion week is upon us, and while I’d like to go to every event, I usually only make it to one. It wasn’t hard deciding which one to attend when I read that Rebecca Minkoff was in the lineup. She is easily one of my favorite handbag designers! Can I get a Mab Mini in every single color please!
The show took place at Saks and offered complementary Skinnygirl wine. (Thank you for being calorie conscious, guys.) You gotta love booze & fashion. With only standing room spots left, I squeezed my way up close to where all the action was. Last year when I went to a STLFW show I didn’t take my camera and I really regretted it, so I came prepared this year. Rebecca’s collection was exquisite! I found all the looks to be very accessible; something I could see myself wearing on the street. The fun & flirty scalloped shorts were definitely a fave. I also really love her use of edgy latin prints. A really cool thing about the show was meeting the “it” girl herself! I was a little nervous, mostly because I was sporting my busted Cynthia Rowley bag, but I’m sure she knows this is St. Louis, not New York City. She was sweet and said one thing to me “You have a nice camera.” Um…I’ll take it! After I met her I browsed around her bags, but I wasn’t too impressed with the selection and passed on buying one. So off to the makeup counter I went, where I was conned into getting my makeup done, (it’s very relaxing, by the way) and spending too much money on Laura Mercier products.
A great benefit of the fashion show was that 100% of the ticket proceeds went to the St. Louis Fashion fund. I never knew this fund existed, but it’s nice to see more creative arts in this little city.
It was a lovely evening.
In line to meet Rebecca Minkoff. But first…let me take a selfie! <3 my shoes.[/caption]
